Basic newbie question - turning of blogging/post mode with Hero section

I just got Version: 0.47.2 (build 17336) working (linux rpm install went fine) - all the backend stuff of syncing to the webserver folder is all good. Now I'm trying to use the interface to make a page. I'm using the Simple theme. (Site Settings ==> Current Theme ==> Simple v.3.2.0.0) I wanted to just make a simple index page that I can edit - very old school. But I can't find a way to shut of that hero section and define a page as "/". I guess I just assumed that would be the starting point - but I can't find it. Any tips would be appreciated.

Try Site settings > Advanced options. Under SEO you will find Homepage and there you can toggle Set page as homepage When activated, you can use Select page
