Motion Sensors Only (or NO streams)

Hi!
My sole interest is to use the person / motion / sound sensors for automations.

I have 10 cameras and don’t want to bog down CPU and RAM with the actual video streams. I can view them in the Tapo app. I have no need for the video streams in Home Assistant.

Is there a way to disable or to “not configure” the actual camera streams? That said - if the HD and SD streams are available are they still consuming resource if I don’t click them to view?

Hi, if you are not viewing the streams they are consuming minimal resources. You can also disable entities.

Disabling the entities is a pretty good idea. Is it safe to assume that if I disable the SD and HD streams the cameras take up very little / no resources?

@JurajNyiri If we disable the stream entities will it still establish a connection to the camera's stream just not show it in home assistant?

Yes if they are disabled they do not connect to camera for the purpose of the disabled entity.
