Problem Statement

The current CIPP standard "Quarantine Release Request Alert" creates a security alert policy in client tenants that emails an external address ([email protected]), but these notifications do not successfully reach MSP mailboxes unless outbound anti-spam policies are adjusted to allow external forwarding. This configuration is not recommended for security and results in an unusable alerting mechanism in a high-security client environment. MSPs, therefore, lack a reliable and secure way to receive quarantine-release requests and must rely on clients to email requests to the support desk separately.

Benefits for MSPs

A CIPP-native scripted alert for quarantine release requests would eliminate the need to modify insecure outbound forwarding settings while centralizing notifications inside CIPP. Including a direct link to the tenant’s CIPP quarantine page would streamline technician workflow, improve response time, and ensure all requests are captured without depending on the client's tenant security settings.

Value or Importance

This feature resolves a long-standing operational gap for MSPs managing M365 quarantine workflows by restoring timely visibility into client requests while maintaining secure configurations. It would significantly enhance consistency, reliability, and efficiency across all managed tenants.

Thank you to the CIPP team for helping the MSP community! :)
