Is there a way to limit open files in qsv partition?

Hello, I was attempting to qsv partition a file with >8K distinct values for the selected column, and I ran into a "too many open files" error.

I could set ulimit -n … to overcome this, but I was wondering if there is (or could be) a way to limit the number of open files within qsv partition?
