imho the correct solution is to switch compdb generation to one of the aspect based builders

in the absence of doing that we need at least to feed it the things it needs (ie where to find clang, stdlibs, etc)

atm it calls the script directly using host python

the first thing i think it needs is to be converted to bazel - so that it gets llvm, python, stdlibs from bazel

i seem to rem trying this before and hitting some blockers (and iirc then looking at the ~right way to do it)

This is great except it not friendly for generated file like pb.cc. But it's fine in most cases.

was just watching a presentation about compdb on youtube that basically said that - and it seems to be reflected in what the tool is saying
