Proxmox OCI installation

With the introduction of OCI images in Proxmox 9.1, Glance docker image can now be installed in Proxmox as such but with a workaround since there's no glance.yml by default as of v0.8.4. See #589.

How to

1. Pulling the Image
   • Select the storage where you store your CT Templates then follow the screenshots
     
     I'll be using glanceapp/glance:v0.8.4
     
2. Creating the container
   • In the top-right of your Proxmox-VE instance, click Create CT
   • Under General Tab, fill the following, customizing CT ID, Hostname and Password to your liking
     
   • Under Template tab, select the storage where you downloaded the image then select the image
     
   • Tabs Disk, CPU, Memory, Network and DNS can be left default or modify however you want them. Just make sure Disk and Memory is reasonable.
3. Before starting the container, we need to create a fallback config since we lack one as mentioned above. (I'm not gonna cover how nano or vi works here)
   • In the Proxmox VE Host shell, create a directory called glance and make a glance.yml

     mkdir glance
     nano glance.yml # or vi

     within the glance.yml file, add this:

     pages:
       - name: Welcome
         columns:
            - size: full

     then save. This will now be our fallback config in case you mess up and can't start your container
   • We'll add it as mountpoint by editing the conf file of the container

     nano /etc/pve/lxc/1005.conf # on the screenshot, CT ID was 1005

     change the following to:

     cmode: shell
     entrypoint: /app/glance --config /app/config-bk/glance.yml
     mp0: /root/glance/,mp=/app/config-bk,ro=1

   • We should now be able to start Glance
4. Initial Glance setup
   • In the console of the Glance container, make a copy of glance.yml from the mountpoint

     cp /app/config-bk/glance.yml /app/config/

   • Lets revert the entrypoint back. In Options set the Entrypoint:

     /app/glance --config /app/config-bk/glance.yml
     # to
     /app/glance --config /app/config/glance.yml
     

     /config-bk/ is our mountpoint where the working basic config lives. Switching back and forth if something goes wrong.
5. Environment variable is just under Entrypoint.

Caveats

1. As of Proxmox VE version 9.1.1, there is no way to easily switch the cmode or Console mode without stopping/restarting the container. Making debugging and updating config harder
- console - shows the container's logs
- shell - is where you can access the contents/os of the container, like docker exec -it

1. You can do pct enter 1005
2. Editing the configs, you can apk add nano or just use vi. Personally, I'd prefer editing through a code-server via ssh, but I haven't looked up a way to do it, installing ssh inside the container maybe?
