Describe the feature
I noticed this change home-assistant/operating-system#4346
Does this change means that all x86 installations uses frequency governor powersafe?
If so, this is a bad idea. While this configuration does to help lower power consumption and heat, it adds a cost to latency when a sudden CPU demand increases.
I can tell you this from experience running over 50k servers at a major Internet company. Someone thought it was a great idea to save on electricity by using this configuration but there was a huge impact on server performance.
I'm still not sure if this configuration change is forced on all x86, if so this config should be exposed to allow endusers to enable or disable powersafe.
Use cases
Because it severely impacts latency when CPU demand increases.
Current workarounds
Not sure.
