Installing the game

DevilutionX requires assets from the original game. If you don't have an original CD, you can buy Diablo from GoG.com.

Download the latest DevilutionX release and extract the contents to a location of your choosing or build from source.

• Copy DIABDAT.MPQ from the CD or GOG-installation (or extract it from the GoG installer) to the DevilutionX folder.
• To run the Hellfire expansion you will need to also copy hellfire.mpq, hfmonk.mpq, hfmusic.mpq and hfvoice.mpq.

WARNING: It is strongly discouraged from playing the game with strangers. The weak(non-existent) data validation pose high security risk to your computer/device. A planned INET_MODE might provide some guards in the future, so try to find a version with INET_MODE enabled if you still decide to play with complete strangers.
