More efficient file type than jsonl

I use jsonl for all my sheets. I used to use csv, but then VisiData doesn't immediately understand what's a string and what's a number, and I don't like that. But jsonl is very wasteful, because the headers are repeated on every line. I remember trying the fancier formats (like parquet or hdf5) but they weren't so good for me. I wonder if there's some simple format similar to csv and jsonl which is as efficient as csv while exposing the types like jsonl.

.jsonla is like .jsonl but in array format, perhaps that would suit you better?

While I have been enjoying using jsonla files as they are much more efficient than jsonl files, it should be noted that this is not a standard at all, and as far as I know JSON processing tools such as jq don't work with it.
