I installed caprine, logged in and it just opens https://messenger.com/ in app:

Buttons like View -> show main chats, insert gif, etc. doesn't work,

Mine has been stuck on a grey screen lately. i have it installed with scoop. i've uninstalled/reinstalled and there is no 'persist' folder to clear and I haven't gone looking for where data is saved yet.

So yours looks slightly different from mine but i did fix the all grey window for myself yesterday. Here's what I did:
Uninstalled caprine (was installed with scoop)
Used Everything to search for all caprine related stuff and delete it
Tried to reinstall caprine from scoop (interesting doesn't exist anymmore?)
Reinstalled from winget, was able to log in this time, but then was having the issue of can't click restore messages
#2265 that was the fix for that, so now I'm back up and running.
