This is a plugin for PowerToys Run that allows you to search Spotify and control its player.

- Search for songs, albums, artists and playlists
- Play songs, albums, artists and playlists
- Add song to queue (Shift+Enter)
- Pause and resume track
- Go to previous or next track
- Turn shuffle on and off
- Set repeat to track, context or off
- Turn volume up and down
Important
Spotify Premium is necessary to control the player.
- Check your current PowerToys version (open PowerToys and look at the version number at the bottom of the settings window).
- Download the release that matches your PowerToys version.
- Extract the content of the zip file to the
RunPluginsfolder of your PowerToys' installation. UsuallyC:\Program Files\PowerToys\RunPlugins, or%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\PowerToys\PowerToys Run\Plugins. - Restart PowerToys.
- Head to your Spotify developer dashboard.
- Create a new app with:
Redirect URIset tohttp://127.0.0.1:5543/callbackWeb APIandWeb Playback SDKchecked
- Go to the settings of the newly created app and save somewhere the value of
Client ID. It is needed later. - Open PowerToys and go to the PowerToys Run section. Scroll down until you find the Spotify section. Click on it.
- Set the value of
Client IDwith the value saved earlier. - Activate PowerToys Run and type
sp. You should see a result asking you to login to your Spotify account. Hitenterand go through the login process. - Activate PowerToys Run again and type
sp lofi. If the installation was a succes, you should see results.
- Ensure you have the latest version of PowerToys installed.
- Close PowerToys.
- Download the release zip file that matches your PowerToys version.
- Extract the content of the zip file to the
RunPluginsfolder of your PowerToys' installation. UsuallyC:\Program Files\PowerToys\RunPlugins, or%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\PowerToys\PowerToys Run\Plugins. - Restart PowerToys.
Open PowerToys Run (default shortcut is Alt+Space).
- Type
spfollowed by your search query. - Select a song, artist or playlist and press
Enterto play it.
- Type
sp. - Select your desired action and press
Enter.

To build and install the plugin, run BuildAndInstallPlugin.bat. This will build the repo then copy the files to the plugins folder for PowerToys Run.
