Frozen/Dead session due to large paste - what approaches would be recommended

I did paste a really large report set to a VIM window in one of a 3 pane Zellij session.
Thing just froze, which was understandable.
I would have hoped that this was just the VIM window or its pane, but the entire session seemed hozed. No keyboard response, nothing.
Trying to delete the session by name also failed.
Eventually I killed the zellij instance and that was that.

I do not expect, nor am I asking for this type of super corner case to be solved. More than anything, before going down a rabbit hole, I am asking which solutions or commands or procedures other users try to get out of such a situation.

I will start playing with:

zellij list-panes
zellij action --pane <pane-id> close-pane

but I thought discussing with the repo members could provide other approaches.
